Minions!

I love Despicable Me and Despicable Me II! I totally fell in love with minions, hence the painting below.

Cards

Worked on some mixed media cards lately. I love combining mixed media/card making (and the lovely die cutting that comes with it) with fine art painting.

Excuse the quality of the picture. I've already sent these off, so I cannot make a proper scan of them anymore.

Die cutting, distress, and collage. Love these felt flowers!

Feb Seven Project

Li'l mixed media project I'm working on. It's due the seventh of February, so I hope I'll make it. Since this is a work in progress, I haven't really arranged the envelopes and tags to the best of my abilities. Once I'm done, I'll make decent scans ^_^

Soes and a New Journal

So I got this journal (Ranger/Dyan) when I had spent enough (read: too much) money at my favorite supply store here in the Netherlands. I immediately had a purpose for it. Children's illustrations! I started a writing course that enabled me to develop a character: Seven year old Soes (pronounce like (Dr.) Seuss). She hates unicorns. And yet she meets one by chance. Hilarious ^_^

Mixed media in journal.

"When Soes turned seven, her uncle Sato came over from Suriname.
He had brought a present. A stuffed animal. A unicorn! Soes hated it.
'It's magical,' Sato winked."

"'Well!' said Dad, 'then put that unicorn on your head!'"

"Soes looked disappointed.
This was no unicorn.
This was a fat, pink pony with a cone on its head.
See. Unicorns are stupid."

Chicago

So this last summer we went to Chicago and I decided to keep a watercolor journal of where we went and what we did. Lots of fun!

From left to right, top to bottom: Chicago Theater and an L Station, Beginning Sign of Route 66, Electric Spaghetti, Farmer's Market, Stained Glass Museum, Water tower, Spider Man and the Marina Towers, the Shedd Aquarium, the Museum of Science and Industry (and one of the few remaining buildings of the Chicago World Fair of 1893), and a Jazz Cafe.

I'm back!
Took a long break from my blog, but never from painting. So be prepared for a bunch of updates.

Facebook...

...mixed media style! Loved doing these. I took profile pictures from my Facebook friends and made them into portraits. They're all bundled in a handmade little journal from heavy watercolor paper.

Vintage computers

So these paintings I made when I was just getting the hang of mixed media. Love it! And vintage. And computers. Good combo! :D

A New Journ

Finished it! That journal I was talking about in my previous post, that is ;) It was handmade from a large sheet of Canson watercolor paper and a little help from Teesha Moore via YouTube. I love it! I already have ideas for the second and third one (and need new sheets of paper after that, lol).

New Style

More ATCs fun! Love this style I've discovered. Involving a spray painted background with an acrylic focal image on top, plus some lines, journaling, and patterns. Thinking of doing an entire art journal this way!

PAT Favorite Artist

So I joined a PAT (Pick-A-Theme) over at illustratedATCs and made the ones below for my group.

f.l.t.r.:
Monet (soft pastels)
Pissarro (soft pastels)
Roger Hall (0.1 Micron pen)
Dali (acrylics)

ATCs Again

Finally got back on the ATCs horse. Hope you like them!

Indian Groom

Finished the Indian Groom portrait! Finally! It took me quite some time, but I'm very pleased with the outcome. I hope the commissioner will be, too ^_^

New Studio

Whoohooo! My new studio is done! I'm very much in love with it. As well as with my husband, who helped to make this possible. Yay!

Excuse the wonkiness, I used Photomerge ;)

Journal Spread 6

Trying to mix fine art with mixed media. I really want this to take a couple of steps further, but for now, this was a fun experiment.

A former colleague got married and is pregnant, so I made her a little something.

Indian Groom and Tiny Still Lifes

Feeling productive today! Other than creating art, I also formulated plans to rearrange my studio. I hope I'll be able to switch more easily between projects then, since I do both fine art as well as crafting.

Lots of fun and energy!

Art Journal Fun

Having fun in my journal! Still trying out new toys and techniques, but also getting rid of some ideas. I hope to turn some of these spreads into canvas art at some point.

Mixed media, too many to name, but I will tell you that the coffee was done with soft pastels. In case you were wondering :)
